You’ll notice that the shell has a shim as well, so it is magnetic
Auke had a very unique and clever way of placing the shim into the shell. From the photos it looks crude, but this is not true. He actually used a very thin film to cover the entire surface of the shell, and the very thin magnetic shim. So that way, when you take your thumb and rub it inside of the shell, you can’t actually feel the shim. It is covered with the yellowish tinted film that you can see in the photos. Very deceptive. This film is very smooth and makes for a very smooth action of the nesting of the shell
This set is also unique in that it is made from the old style English pennies with the king rather than the queen. Also comes with two extra vintage English pennies that have been cut down so they fit perfectly into the shell.
