The MOOD Deck
This is a wonderful piece of strong Card Magic. The presentation is very simple.
I talk about how when I was a kid I used to always play around with my mom‘s MOOD ring. This is a piece of jewelry that was very popular in the 1970s. It was a ring that would apparently change color depending on your mood.
Later on, I learned that it was not real magic. But a thermal reaction depending on the heat of your skin. But it always remained magical to me, even as a But it always remained magical to me even as an adult. I thought it was a perfect premise for a card trick!
So I created the “mood list“. Which is a simple list of all 52 playing cards paired with a mood and a color.
For example, if they pick the queen of hearts, the queen of hearts is associated with ANGER and the color RED.
The mood list is completely normal. It is a genuine list of all 52 cards paired with an emotion and a color. There’s nothing to find on the list. They can even keep it if they wish.
You spread through the deck, both face up and face down to show that all the cards are blue backed and as you spread through the faces you show that it is indeed complete deck, and all of the cards are different.
You now slowly, go through the deck, one card at a time asking them to remember or THINK OF A CARD.
They look up their card on the “mood list“. which now gives them a mood and a color to focus on as well.
…….you ask them to hold out their fist and you fist bump…the fist bump immediately tells you what mood they are thinking of, so you quickly grab a sharpie and scribble down your prediction on a random card in the center of the deck.
The deck is now placed face up in front of the spectator. And you tell them for the first time to tell everyone in the audience what the MOOD is that they are thinking of…..for this example let’s say he says “hope”.
You immediately spread through the face up cards and show that there is one card in the center with the word “Hope” written in sharpie across the face. You thoroughly show that there are no other faceup cards with any other writing.
NOW for the amazing finale!
You turn the cards face down and ask the spectator to just touch the back of the deck. Just like the mood ring. Your physical touch causes the ring to change color.
You immediately ribbon spread the deck across the table and show that there is now one card in the center of the deck that has changed color.
There is one bright green card sticking out in the center of the blue deck. This is indeed the color that they are thinking of. For the dramatic finale, you ask them what CARD they are thinking of……& when you turn the green cart over it is indeed the exact card they are thinking of!!!!!!
This is a very quick straightforward triple whammy effect. It packs a huge wallop. The revelation of the thought of card as well as the thought of color and emotion absolutely destroys audiences.
The reset is instant.
